administrator/software developer
Attentio is looking for an experienced systems administrator/developer, who will work within the Technology Group responsible maintaining and enhancing our cluster of Linux servers, and help support and improve our market intelligence software.
Responsibilities
- Maintain/expand our cluster of Linux servers in a high-security data centre
- Monitor the systems health of our hardware and software
- Develop fail-over strategies for high-availability clusters
- Organize backups, write test procedures
- Possible assistance on software development (back-end or front-end of our products such as the Attentio Brand Dashboard™ and Trendpedia)
Qualifications and Experience
- Good knowledge of (preferably SuSE) Linux
- Experience with setting up and maintaining hardware
- Knowledge of tools and protocols such as HTTP, DNS, ssh, rsync, autoyast,dhcp, nagios, confluence, jira, svn, apache, qmail, SpamAssassin
- Fault-tolerant and distributed architectures, automatic installs, etc.
- Languages: shell, Perl, Java, XML, familiarity with OO techniques
- Fluent in English
A definite plus
- Passion for online social media, blogging, social networks, etc
- Passion for either one of the following domains: text-based information retrieval, text analytics, web/data mining, AI techniques/machine learning
Web services, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, JSP, Flex, Flash, ...

April 2008: Intern for social media analysis
Attentio is currently seeking an intern to join our office in Brussels. Tasks include supporting our researchers in a client-facing context: writing reports based on social media tracking projects as well as preparation of presentations. Candidates should have an interest in the blogosphere and social networks as well as strong writing skills. Fluency in English is required, other languages are an asset. The candidate will join a very international and ambitious team of dedicated social media professionals working with international clients and projects.
Responsibilities
- Monitor projects to accomplish project objectives
- Set up of social media projects with Attentio tools (training is provided)
- Analysis of social media articles and report writing
- Presentations preparation
- Demonstrations to clients of Attentio tools (training is provided)
Qualifications and Experience
- Should be IT literate, with good Microsoft office skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail
- Good writing skills in English
- Market research or marketing background preferred but not necessary
- English and one additional language required (Preferred languages: French, Dutch, German, Spanish)
- Knowledge of Social Media is an advantage
